As a private pay practice, I am not in network with insurance companies but I can still provide you services through your insurance as an Out-of-Network provider (OON). This means the full fee for your session is due at the time of service and I will provide you with a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Some insurance companies can reimburse up to 80%, so you will end up having only paid a copay in the end! If you would like to see if you are covered for your therapy sessions through your OON benefits, please contact your insurance provider using the number found on the back of your insurance card.
Another convenient option to cover the cost of your sessions is through use of funds in your HSA or FSA. Please check with your plan as some insurance providers require that you first consult with your primary care physician and receive a Letter of Medical Necessity or Doctor's Directive for your services. Note that couples counseling does not qualify for use of your HSA/FSA unless deemed medically necessary.
There are two ways you can go about using your HSA/FSA funds. Similarly to using OON benefits (see section above) I can provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your HSA account for reimbursement after you have paid for your session. The other option is if you have a debit card associated with your HSA or FSA account you can utilize this to pay for your session up front.
Whether this is your first time in therapy or you have previous experience, I want to let you know what you can expect from your sessions with me! In the Initial Intake we will go over your background and history so that I can get a better sense of who you are and what you’ve been through. We will begin to explore what your therapeutic goals are and where you want to be at the end of our work together. If time allows, we will complete your treatment plan outlining these goals. For this reason, please ensure that you have completed all of your intake paperwork 24 hours prior to your appointment to give me time to review and begin planning to maximize our time in the first session. If need be, we can complete your treatment plan at the beginning of your follow up session.
I always say it is my job to work myself out of a job, meaning my greatest desire as your therapist is to help you develop the tools to move you towards wellness and independence, so that you reach a place where you feel empowered to say you no longer need regular therapy! Don’t worry if you aren’t sure going into our first session what your goals are. We will develop and uncover these together as a team just as we will work together to move you towards progress and healing.
Initial Individual Intake Sessions May take up to 60 minutes so please plan accordingly. Couples Intakes may take 60-75 minutes so please plan accordingly.
In your subsequent Individual or Couples Sessions with me, you can expect an always supportive and safe place to discuss and explore what we need to, to learn something new to help you either shift your perspective, change your outlook, understand your mind and your body better, and bring you one step closer to achieving your goals.
Individual and Couples Sessions last between 50 and 60 minutes, so please be prompt to maximize your time and please plan accordingly.
Finally, full Accelerated Resolution Therapy sessions work a little bit different than typical therapy sessions. In these sessions we are targeting a specific goal and to ensure that we are able to achieve that goal, sessions can run from 60 minutes to 90 minutes to 2 hours! The rate remains the same for all, my job is to make sure I can lead you to where you need to be at the end of our session no matter how long that takes. If you have further questions about these sessions please call to ask! Please plan accordingly for the possibility for a 2 hour session and please ensure that you have time to rest and practice self care following your session.

The frequency of your therapy sessions depends on your needs. I typically prefer to meet more frequently, once weekly, in the beginning of our therapeutic work together so that we can jump start the process and get you on your way to wellness. However, if your busy work schedule makes this difficult or financially this is a challenge, we can find a frequency option that works well for you. This is something we will discuss in our initial session and if you have any questions please ask!
Especially if this is your first time seeking counseling, you may have questions about the privacy of our sessions and your health information. Privacy and confidentiality are of the upmost importance when it comes to counseling. Please be assured that I have taken all of the necessary precautions to protect you and your information as dictated by law and counseling ethics.
For this reason I ask that you follow my guidelines about how to contact me to protect your privacy. I also respect and recognize that what we may cover in the context of our sessions may be very difficult to discuss, I ensure you that you will receive an open and judgment free experience with me always and I will always keep your information confidential. If there are any exceptions to your privacy (ie. information needed for insurance reimbursement) they are noted in our Notice of Privacy Practices which you will have an opportunity to review and sign in your intake paperwork. Confidentiality and its limits in the context of therapy will also be discussed with you in your initial session. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
